Volunteer Opportunities

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘

There are a variety of volunteer opportunites for Pilgrim Members to serve the Lord and one another:

Altar Guild -
Volunteers are approved by the Pastors and Board of Elders to assist with the care and keeping of the chancel area and prepare the elements of the sacraments. 

Board of Christian Education - Volunteers are elected to assist the Pastors and Board of Elders in the promotion of Christian training and facilitation of Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Youth Catechesis, and other youth activities. 

Board of Elders - Volunteers are elected to assist the Pastors in all matters pertaining to the spiritual welfare of the congregation and see to it that all worship services are conducted decently and the Word be proclaimed properly and in accordance with our confession.

Board of Trustees - Volunteers are elected to serve as the legal representatives of the congregation and custodians of its property. They serve as employer of paid staff (Organists, Janitors, Office Secretary).

Church Counters - Volunteers are approved by the Church Council to count, record, and deposit financial donations. Volunteers are added to a team rotation of counters.

Church Officers - Volunteers are elected by the congregation to serve as congregational President, Vice president, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, and Tresurer. The Voters' Assembly elects from eligible member volunteers at its annual October meeting.

Church Recorder - Service Recorders are in charge of live streaming our Sunday 8:00 a.m. Divine Service the church website and recording our Sunday 9:15 a.m. Adult Bible Study. Volunteers are added to a rotation of recorders.

Fall Clean Up Day-  This event, held by the Board of Trustees, typically takes place the morning of the third Saturday in September. Fall Clean Up includes various inside and outside tasks that help clean and maintain the buildings and property. These tasks vary in difficulty, so individuals of all ages are invited to volunteer.

Easter Eggstravaganza - This event is held each year on the Saturday before Palm Sunday. Pilgrim invites the children of West Bend to join us in a fun morning of crafts, games, snacks, and an egg hunt. Volunteers are needed before, during, and after this event to stuff and hide eggs, facilitate crafts and games, serve snacks, hand out prizes, and clean up.

Funeral Committee - Volunteers work with the Ladies Guild to host a meal for a member's family and guests following a funeral service at the church. 

Kitchen Volunteer - Kitchen Volunteers prepare, serve, and clean up the Sunday morning Adult Bible Study snacks & refreshments. 

Office Volunteer - Office Volunteers assist the Church Secretary folding and assembling the Sunday service bulletins. Volunteers are added to a rotation of recorders.

Spring Clean Up Day-  This event, held by the Board of Trustees, typically takes place the morning of the third Saturday in May. Spring Clean Up includes various inside and outside tasks that help clean and maintain the buildings and property. These tasks vary in difficulty, so individuals of all ages are invited to volunteer.

Sunday School - Volunteers are approved by the Pastors and Board of Education to facilitate the Christian Education of Pilgrim's children and youth on Sunday mornings.

Ushers - Ushers are approved by the Board of Elders to serve before, during, and after worship services. Ushers are needed to handout bulletins, assist visitors, facilitate the Lord's Supper and collection of donations, and tidy the sanctuary. Volunteers are added to a team rotation of ushers.

Vacation Bible School - This morning, week-long event is typically held in August. Volunteers are  approved by the Board of Christian Education to serve before, during, and after the event to help with decorating, music, crafts, snacks, games, and clean up.

Wednesday Youth Catechesis - Volunteers are approved by the Pastors and the Board of Christian Education to assist Pilgrim's children and youth with learning by heart the words of Luther's Small Catechism thus preparing them for entry into the Pastors' catechesis classes.
